The Foundation “I Sud del Mondo onlus” was born on 13th December 2004 by an idea of the Onorevole Giuseppe Galati.

Its main objective is to promote the development of the Italian and foreign areas economically disadvantaged , through the setting up of social and sectorial surveys.

Training supporting local development
Within its institutional activity, the Foundation promotes activities on training and upgrading of human resources involved in the processes of change in social structures collaborating with universities and research centres. Grants awards and scholarships. Organizes seminars, courses, events, conferences and meetings,providing also the publication of the acts with a share of social problems evident impact on society nationally and internationally.

Humanitarian initiatives.
From a strictly operational, the Foundation is a non-profit organization which aims to carry out humanitarian activities, targeted at community, national or foreign, in the objective state of economic disadvantage.

To achieve its objectives, the Foundation works in full respect of values and traditions of Italian culture especially the Christian - through the personal, political and institutional context of its founders.

Transfer of knowledge.
The Foundation carries out actions to support and spread a culture of support to social development and economic growth. In its programs there is the aggregation of individuals who identify the' social balance 'one of the founding of his business.

Project carrier of the Foundation is the dissemination of experience in the management of policies on incentives to businesses, in implementing development programs, in choosing the most appropriate methodologies to facilitate the growth of the southern hemisphere and the well being of 'man.

The Scientific Committee of the Foundation is composed of the following experts: Prof Luigi Tivelli (coordinatore), Prof. Pina Amarelli, Ing. Elio Catania, Prof. Francesco Cognetti, Prof. Fabio Gava, Prof. Andrea Monorchio e Prof. Beniamino Quintieri.

The Foundation “I Sud del Mondo onlus” is recognized by the Calabria Region,under Regional Law 19 April 1995 n.20, as the foundation of significant regional interest.

The Foundation adheres to the network:

• "Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the dialogue between cultures" including the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• "Adoption Forum at a distance", as an observer.
• Has received the "Crystal Award", organized by the Humanitarian Society in collaboration with the magazine Inside Milan and the non-profit association "Zenit Onlus for the right to health of the migrant."
